HOW

Start selling on Amazon Japan

Whether you're new to selling internationally or an experienced exporter, Amazon simplifies and facilitates global selling. Just like in the US, you can sign up for a Seller Central account in Japan. Get started in just a few steps.

Step 1

Decide what to sell
Know the taxes and regulations required to sell your products and make sure that you comply with local laws when you sell in Japan. Learn about the category requirements and review the list of recommended products for each category (registration for an Amazon.co.jp seller account required). Third-party service providers can also help you to resolve issues such as compliance with regulations, international delivery and taxes.

Step 2

Sign up and list products
Take advantage of Amazon's powerful tools to manage your seller accounts. You can link your North American or European marketplace accounts to your Japanese account, view all your international sales on one page and sync your listings. Pricing

How much does it cost to sell on Amazon.co.jp?
Amazon offers two selling plans. The Professional selling plan is available for a monthly subscription fee of ¥4,900 plus referral fees per product, which vary by category. Some categories are only available to Professional sellers and only Professional sellers can add new products to the Amazon catalogue.

If you plan to sell fewer than 50 products per month, the Individual plan may be the best option for you. There is no monthly subscription fee. Instead, users pay ¥100 per product sold plus referral fees, which vary by category. Additional fees apply if you use Fulfilment by Amazon to collect, package, deliver and provide customer service for your products. Learn more about Fulfilment by Amazon pricing.
When do I start paying my monthly subscription fee?
The monthly subscription fee only applies to Professional selling accounts and starts as soon as the registration process is complete.

How do I manage my seller account?
Use Seller Central to manage your seller account. You can add product information, manage orders, update your inventory and manage payments with one of the many language options offered.
How do I add inventory?
In Seller Central, go to the Inventory drop-down menu and select Add a product for one product, or Add products with files if you want to add more than one product.
  • Use the Sell on Amazon button on Amazon product pages.
  • Use the Add a product feature in Seller Central to create product listings one at a time.
  • Use Excel-based inventory files to create several product listings at the same time (Professional plan only).
  • Use Amazon Marketplace Web Service for bulk uploads and reports (Professional plan only).
How will I know when I make a sale?
Amazon notifies you by email when you receive an order. There is also an order tracker at the top of the Seller Central homepage.
How much does it cost to deliver the products I sell?
When you fulfil your orders yourself, Amazon shipping rates apply to media products (books, music, videos and DVDs) sold by Professional sellers and to all products sold by Individual sellers. Amazon charges these shipping rates based on the product category and the delivery service selected by the shopper, and then transfers the amount to you as shipping credits. For products that Amazon fulfils on your behalf, in addition to the Selling on Amazon fees, you will be charged fees for order fulfilment, storage and optional services.
