Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
What types of used products can I sell on Amazon?
You can sell used products in most categories, including consumer electronics, books, DVDs, CDs, video games and general goods. However, certain categories such as Beauty, Food and Beverage, Health and Personal Care and Dietary Supplements are not eligible for the sale of used products.
Are there additional fees for selling used products?
No. You'll only pay Amazon's standard referral fees (which range from 7% to 15% depending on the product category). There are no additional fees on the programme for selling used products.
How do I determine the condition of my used products?
Amazon has four condition categories for used products:
- Like New: A product in perfect working condition for which the packaging may have some damage. The product works perfectly and its key accessories are complete.
- Very Good: A product in very good condition that may have had a little use and that works perfectly. The product may have minor surface imperfections. It may arrive in damaged packaging, refurbished and may be missing some non-essential accessories. The missing accessories are listed in the individual product description.
- Good: A product in good condition that may show some wear due to moderate use and is in perfect working condition. The product may arrive in damaged packaging or refurbished. It may have minor surface damage, such as a small scratch. The product may be missing some important accessories and may not be able to be used until these are purchased separately. The missing accessories are listed in the individual product description.
- Acceptable: The product may show clear signs of use but continues to perform its primary function. The product may arrive in damaged packaging or refurbished. The product may have surface damage or other signs of use. Signs of use may include scratches, dents and worn corners or edges. The product may be missing some important accessories, components, or replacement parts, and may not be usable until these are purchased separately. The missing parts are listed in the individual product description.
Each listing must accurately reflect the true condition of the product.
How do I set the price of my used products?
You have full control over the prices of your used products. However, the prices of used products must be competitive and lower than the prices of new products, and the prices generally reflect the condition (items in the Like New category have higher prices than those in the Acceptable category).
Are there advertising options available for used products?
While traditional advertising campaigns aren't currently available for used products, you can still use Amazon's promotional tools, including percentage discount promotions and buy one get, one free offers.
How can I protect myself against returns and negative reviews?
The key is transparency in your offer. Provide detailed descriptions of the condition and clear photos showing any wear or imperfection. This sets accurate customer expectations and reduces the likelihood of returns and negative reviews. The key is transparency in your offer.
