Selling automotive parts is no longer limited to garages and physical stores The world of online automotive sales is booming and Amazon is the ideal destination for customers who want access to a vast selection at competitive prices, together with faster shipping.

    Introduction to Amazon Automotive

    Why sell automotive parts online?

Selling through Amazon is a great way to reach customers all around the world. The average age of cars has increased significantly in recent years; many consumers are choosing to extend the lifespan of their vehicles and using Amazon to find the replacement parts they need.

I’ve created an account, what are the best practices I should follow?

Whether you already have experience in the automotive sector or if you’re new to e-commerce and you want to create your digital store, there are a few things you need to consider when selling automotive parts online.
Decide which products you want to sell
Even if you already know the type of products you want to sell, a little research may help you to discover opportunities that are worth exploring. When you sell on Amazon, it's very easy to find out which products are most popular, allowing you to anticipate trends and react to changes that will drive the automotive industry in the coming years.
    Determine your shipping strategy
Dimensions and weight are important factors when storing and shipping automotive parts. A spare room or garage may be enough to cover your storage needs at first, but as your business grows, you may need another option. Fulfilment by Amazon offers solutions for storage, customer service and other management tasks.
List your products and set competitive prices
When you start listing your products, include good quality photos and organise the text with bullets to highlight their features and benefits. To set a price that generates conversions, take a look at the competition and find out how much similar items sell for.
    Add compatibility information (if required)
Customers need to know which items are right for their vehicle when they buy automotive parts. If your products are only compatible with specific vehicles, make sure to add the relevant information using our internal compatibility tool. This will help ensure higher conversion rates, increase sales and reduce compatibility-related returns.

To do this in bulk, you must add compatibility information using the Master Vehicle List (MVL). The MVL is a repository of data on vehicles currently used in the region. This list is now available to all Amazon automotive sellers. The MVL provides you with a unique KTYPE for each vehicle.

Download the MVL for all the marketplaces covered below
    Terms of use
The information in the Master Vehicle List is only valid for listings due to be published in the following geographical areas: Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Poland. In addition, the list contains compatibility information for customers in Austria who shop on the German Amazon website. The right to use the MVL depends on Amazon's provision of the MVL. If Amazon stops providing the MVL, your right to use it expires automatically.

This list can only be used for new parts; it is not permitted to use the information contained in the list ("Information") for the sale of used parts. Used parts are parts that have previously been fitted on a vehicle, with the exception of replacement, re-manufactured and reconditioned parts. Any other use or dissemination of the Information is strictly prohibited. Unauthorised use of the Information will result in claims for damages by right holders and may result in fines or other penalties. When accessing this list and using it to publish listings on Amazon websites in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Poland, users must comply with the obligation to check the compatibility of the spare parts with the indicated vehicle model. The list also includes compatibility information for customers in Austria who shop on the German Amazon website.

When downloading and using the Master Vehicle List, users accept the above-mentioned applicable terms of use.

Additionally, it helps sellers meet Amazon guidelines by ensuring that compatibility information is properly included, thereby increasing sales and visibility on the platform.

It should be noted that the MVL can only be used for new products.
Why is it crucial to include vehicle compatibility when selling automotive parts on Amazon?
When selling automotive spare parts, compatibility between the vehicle model and the part is essential. Without this information, there is a high risk of errors and returns.

To solve this problem, Amazon has created a vehicle database, making it easy for both sellers and buyers to find the right parts for each vehicle. This resource helps to minimise compatibility issues and ensures a smoother buying and selling process on the website.
